Due to the incredible success of the Inventors! project we have now launched it as an organisation called Little Inventors.
We will work with schools and organisations around the world to take the project global.
We have been nominated for a WIRED Audi Innovation award and already connected with orgs around the world.
This includes NSERC the national science and engineering council of Canada.
Check out our new website to see the children’s ideas or get involved.
The exhibition of the INVENTORS! project has opened in Sunderland. Over 450 children(and some adults) were asked to draw their own inventions then local makers made a selection of them into real things. See the project website for all the ideas and made inventions. www.inventorsproject.co.uk

‘Inspiring tomorrow’s creatives, innovators and inventors’
This Autumn Dominic Wilcox has been encouraging the people of Sunderland and South Tyneside to return to their inventing roots. From October 2015 Dominic worked with schools, community groups and the public across the Cultural Spring wards to inspire as many new Inventors! as possible.Over 500 people have taken part in workshops and we have collected hundreds of invention ideas that will all feature in the exhibition.
A selection of drawings have been chosen by Dominic and a panel of local makers, expert trades people and manufacturers which will then be made in to real life inventions.
Thank you to everyone that took part in a workshop or sent us their invention idea – we have been blown away by the huge range of ideas and creativity.
Inventors! Exhibition 16 – 30 Jan 2016
The Inventors! Exhibition will open on Saturday 16th of January at 18 Fawcett Street, Sunderland SR1 1RH.
Come and see the vast range of ideas produced during our Inventors! workshops, from the wacky and absurd to the wonderfully simple and useful. Find out which ideas have been transformed by our team of makers into real objects, 2D designs or animations. The exhibition will also be the first chance to see exciting, new pieces of work by Dominic Wilcox.
Exhibition Opening Times 12pm – 5pm, closed Sundays
This Autumn Dominic Wilcox will be encouraging our Cultural Spring wards to return to their inventing roots. Did you know that self-raising flour, phone boxes and even the light bulb were all created by North East inventors? From October Dominic will be working with schools, community groups and the public across the Cultural Spring wards to inspire as many new Inventors! as possible.
A selection of these inventions and designs will then be chosen by Dominic and a panel of local makers, expert trades people and manufacturers to be made in to real life inventions that will feature in a special exhibition.
How to get involved with Inventors!
Between 2 – 6 November Dominic will be visiting schools in our wards, armed with his own wacky inventions and the ideas and tools to inspire your very own classroom of inventors.
