About
Dominic Wilcox is an ideas man, an artist who works within the area of the 'everyday'. Everyday objects, environments, buildings, human interaction, no area of normality is out of reach. His work, which is usually layered with an ultra dry wit, places a spotlight on the banal, always adding a new, alternative perspective on things we take for granted. Dominic's work has been published in numerous magazines around the world and in books including the recently published '&Fork' by Phaidon."
Recent history
While studying at Edinburgh College of Art in 1998, Dominic Wilcox created a collection of objects based on everyday items such as a bed, swing and bird cage. After graduating, he moved to Japan for a year before returning to the UK to study an MA at the Royal College of Art. During this 2 year period of intensive critical debate and creative experimentation he developed a series of objects including War Bowl, Honesty Stamps and Glove. After leaving the RCA in 2002, he started a collaboration called Mosley meets Wilcox. One major MMW project was a collaboration with Rock photographer Mick Rock which ended in a collection of objects exhibited in Sept 2004.
In 2006 Dominic went solo, working on his own projects as well as major art commisions for organisaions such as Nike, Vipp and Esquire. He is currently developing new work, experiments and ideas.
