Little Inventors goes to the UN

In 2022 Dominic Wilcox’s organisation Little Inventors and CRIN challenged children to better understand climate change and encouraged them to use their brilliant imaginations to think of ideas to better protect the planet. The two challenge themes were: biodiversity and living more sustainably.

After uploading their inventions here, a selection of the most inspiring ideas were chosen to be brought to life! These ideas were showcased at events, including at the UN Human Rights Council, encouraging adults to listen to children and involve them in climate decisions. See the project here

Driverless at the Science Museum London

Stained Glass car at Science Museum London

2 June 2019 – October 2020

Dominic Wilcox’s Stained Glass Driverless Sleeper Car of the Future is on show at London’s Science Museum for the 18 month free exhibition ‘Driverless: Who is in Control?’.

“Artificial intelligence is gaining an ever-increasing presence in our lives. Everything from deep-sea exploration to getting a cheeky take-away is being reimagined with some form of automation.

Technology developers are racing to create fully autonomous machines with the ability to make decisions on their own. How many of these smart machines already exist? And how much control are we willing to transfer to them?

Discover more in this cutting-edge exhibition through interactive exhibits, thought-provoking objects and even a retro robot car. Driverless will give you a unique glimpse into the AI-driven tech that could shape the habits, behaviour and society of tomorrow. “

Dominic was challenged by Microsoft Surface to design a couple solutions to everyday problems for an exhibition at the D&AD Festival.

Check out the project I started in Hull at the end of 2016 (though didn’t put it online until March 2019), I started a Lost and Found Office of the odd and unusual. It is a fictional place where things that no one knows what they are or what they do go. The office then asks the public for their imaginative ideas about them.

INVENTORS! Exhibition

Screen Shot 2016-01-13 at 10.35.24

This Autumn Dominic Wilcox has been encouraging the people of Sunderland and South Tyneside to return to their inventing roots. From October 2015 Dominic worked with schools, community groups and the public across the Cultural Spring wards to inspire as many new Inventors! as possible.Over 500 people have taken part in workshops and we have collected hundreds of invention ideas that will all feature in the exhibition.

A selection of drawings have been chosen by Dominic and a panel of local makers, expert trades people and manufacturers which will then be made in to real life inventions.

Thank you to everyone that took part in a workshop or sent us their invention idea – we have been blown away by the huge range of ideas and creativity.
